This was the first time we have travelled with Leger. We were met early on a Friday morning by our feeder coach in Cardiff. The driver and assistant were helpful and made the long journey enjoyable and fun, with a lot of banter. The coach itself was very comfortable and all facilities on board excellent. We then switched coaches at the interchange terminal which was well organised and, again, made a lot easier by the Leger crews and staff. With our new drivers and guide we set off for France and the D-Day Landings tour.

As I’ve never done a coach trip holiday before, my wife and I looked at a number of companies which provided battlefield tours. We decided to choose Leger Holidays. For the added bonus and comfort, my wife booked myself onto the Silver Service coach with reserved seating.

The tour was excellent. The driver, co-driver and Battlefields Guide were brilliant and the coach had been cleaned every morning when we went to get on it The facilities on the coach were also very good and it was very comfortable.

We selected Leger Holidays because our background investigations showed that they clearly knew how to organise such a trip and this proved to be absolutely correct. We chose their Silver Service and paid a little extra to sit in the second row of the coach, both good decisions.

Our feeder coach left Basildon on time and we were instantly made to feel welcome. We then arrived at Folkestone to meet our main tour coach, again we felt very at home as the lads introduced themselves and made banter to help us feel relaxed.

I chose this tour as it included visits to all the beaches, together with visits to the significant inland sites, which had a bearing on what happened after D-Day.

Richard Ashby’s interest in visiting the sites of his father’s actions in WWII have been growing over the years, so when he decided to take that interest a step further, he chose Leger to be his guide with an escorted battlefields tour.

My friend Martin and I chose this tour because having already travelled with Leger on two other occasions to Normandy and we really wanted to be there for the 6th of June, D-Day. We visited the main landing beaches: Utah; Omaha; Gold; Juno and Sword. If D-Day is what you are interested in then this is the tour for you. We have experienced this for ourselves and now have many wonderful memories and plenty of photographs to remind us of the tour.

Stephen and his dad Tony joined Leger’s 5 day Normandy D-Day Landings tour in September. Following a previous tour to Belgium in 2011, Stephen saw how much his dad enjoyed the experience so booked the D-Day landings tour as a 70th birthday present.

I would like to thank you for an excellent and most enjoyable tour.

I joined the Royal Navy during WW2 and was drafted into the Light Coastal Forces service where our flotilla was sent to patrol the Normandy Coast on D-Day and I chose to book The D-Day in Normandy tour with Leger Holidays -  this proved to be a wise decision.

Mr William Wallace wrote...

Our scout fellowship was looking to go on trips together so I volunteered to sort out where to go, so I collected Leger Holidays brochure from our local travel agent and decided that I myself always wanted to go to the landing beaches, and now was the right time to go with the rest of our Fellowship.

We joined our feeder coach 10 minutes from home & after an efficient transfer to a more luxurious vehicle at Dover, a smooth crossing & a swift journey through France, we arrived late in the evening at the Kyriad Caen Sud Ife hotel. We were whisked through the reception formalities in minutes. A promising start for this band of brothers and sisters.
